Powerful Effects on Wellbeing
We all know that pets have a powerful and positive effect on the health and wellbeing of people of all ages. It has been proven that the elderly, in particular, benefit with contact with animals, especially birds. In one study, the introduction of an aviary into an elderly care facility was shown to reduce depression – both because of the stimulation created by watching the colorful, active birds, and the increased social interaction created by the presence of the aviary.
A breeding aviary is the source of great excitement for residents, staff and families. Each aviary is environmentally stable, meaning that there is ample space for the adults to live their normal lifecycle with enough room to raise their young.
Maintenance
To keep our birds looking their best, we include an extensive care and service package with our loaned aviaries. The number one challenge in keeping birds is the mess they make. We feel that keeping them in acrylic aviaries makes this much less of an issue. In addition, we provide monthly visits that ensure that the aviaries, as well as the birds, look their best.
The products we use for cleaning are of the highest quality and are free of any toxins. The feed we provide our birds is also of the highest quality. We ensure that the birds don’t consume anything that has been sitting on a shelf for an extended period of time.
All accessories that are placed inside our aviaries have been carefully designed to ensure maximum benefit for the birds, while still blending in with the natural look. These include the perches, feeders, nest boxes, and water sources. Our aviary units include handcrafted accessories that are very “user-friendly” for the birds.
Our Services
SRL Services offers several levels of maintenance service. While on site we will:
- Examine and medicate birds
- Maintain scheduled bird immunizations
- Clip claws and beaks
- Disinfect entire aviary
- Remove and replace bedding, and branches, as needed
- Clean and disinfect nests
- Polish windows
- Repack nesting material
- Exchange or replace birds
- Repair aviary if necessary
